"High Hope" for the New Year

If the daily news is bringing you down, I have a great cure! I've just released my new book, "High Hope: Uplifting stories about home, faith and family." It's filled with feel-good stories that will rekindle your hope, joy and love for one another. It's like sitting down for a long conversation with a good friend.

My credentials

After retiring from a career in publishing and communications, I focused full-time on learning more about the life of the spirit. In the past few years,

•  I am certified by Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation in "Transforming Community: Leading Contemplative Prayer Groups and Retreats."

•  I am certified in Spiritual Direction through the Diocese of Austin, Texas.

•  I am on the faculty of the Servant Leadership School offered by CrossTies Ecumenical Church in Waco, Texas.

Now, at the prompting of the Holy Spirit, I am offering what I have learned to others who  want to lean fully into the embrace of the One who loves us more than we can imagine.

God loves you, and there are ways for you to experience that more fully.

Welcome to inKINDministries!

A new resource to help you find a deeper, more meaningful relationship with God.

My name is Victoria Grace Kabat. I have spent my life seeking a closer relationship with God, the kind I saw testimony to in the Gospels. Somehow, just being a "good little church lady" wasn't doing it.

Have you ever felt there was something "more?" Something you were missing?

I tried it all. I led VBS, taught Sunday School to all ages, served as a Christian Education Director, attended Bible study classes and theological conferences. I even wrote curriculum for a major denomination.  All that, and I still felt like there was something I just wasn't "getting."

I was right!

I'd like to share with you, your church, your friends how the church has complicated and diluted the power of Jesus's message of love.

God's first language is silence: "Be still and know that I am God."

"So, if you are too tired to speak, sit next to  me, because I, too, am fluent in silence."

When I discovered contemplative prayer and centering prayer as taught by contemporary theologian Cynthia Bourgeault and also by Franciscan priest Richard Rohr, I felt like I had finally discovered "the rest of the story."

I studied Thomas Merton, Gerald May, Henri Nouwen, Jack Kornfield, Joan Chittister and many others. I learned about unitive consciousness, the cosmic flow of love, and the oneness for which God longs, and, finally, I got it! I knew I had found my spiritual home.

If most of these names are new to you, all is good! I can introduce you to another dimension of loving God and living God in your communities. The Spirit will do the rest!

Ways I can help resource your communities:

As a Christian Education Director, I was constantly looking for more fulfilling resources that would speak to the church's parishioners. I can facilitate workshops for your church, church leadership, civic group, women's group, or individuals by offering:

•  Instruction in the Christian history and transformative power of contemplative prayer
•  Facilitating contemplative prayer retreats or silent retreats
•  Introduction of art journaling as prayer, another dimension in communicating with God
•  Walking with you in individual spiritual direction

At the Servant Leadership School, I have taught:

•  Prayer
•  Art: The Healing Power of Creativity
•  Peacemaking in a Chaotic World
